Autonauts,

As I mentioned during the town hall on Monday (2nd September) recently, some of our male colleagues and I participated in a period pain simulator in our Gurgaon office. The result? We came out with a newfound respect and understanding of just how unbearable the pain from cramps during menstruation can be.

That’s why I’m launching Flow Time-Out Leave. Starting this month, all women (including transgender people) at CARS24 can take the day off when they need to during their period. Why? Because I know and understand that it’s impossible to focus on anything when we are in pain.

This isn’t just a policy—it’s personal. It’s about recognizing that our female and LGBTQIA+ Autonauts deserve better. For those of us who menstruate, every month, you’ll have the chance to take a day for yourself, no questions asked, no approvals needed. It’s about taking control of your health and well-being because you shouldn’t have to push through pain to prove your dedication.

A note for the men on our team: Our female colleagues expressing that they are taking flow time out shouldn’t make us uncomfortable. This is a part of life; it’s why we have life. While most of us will never fully understand what women go through, we can at least trust them when they say they must test this out.

Also, applying for this leave shouldn't be a source of shame or stigma. Ladies, feel free to tell people on internal groups or emails that you are on your flow time-out for the day.

In case you face any unnecessary harassment or distasteful comments from men or women about this, please report them to speakup@cars24.com – or the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) team will quickly spring into action.

Here’s to taking more steps toward making CARS24 a more inclusive organisation. On that note, only 15% of our team are female. I hope we can drastically change that number over the next few years.
